Special Presentation 

Principal Alvin Au and United Way Greater Toronto representatives presented about the 2019-20 United Way Campaign. The campaign raised a total of $143,774. Mount Royal Public School is recognized with the Harold M. Brathwaite Recognition Award.

Fernforest Public School, Churchill Meadows Pubic School, Glenforest Secondary School and the board's Alternative Programs will be recognized with the United Way Special Recognition Awards.

Delegations​

Kola Iluyomade delegated the board regarding the criminalization and safety of Black parents at Board meetings.

Peel board recognizes April as Earth Month

The board recognizes April as Earth Month. As we practice physical distancing in response to COVID-19, Peel communities are encouraged to celebrate Earth Month by developing a deeper understand of environmental issues and reducing their environmental footprint at home.

Board recognizes April as Sikh Heritage Month

The board recognizes April as Sikh Heritage Month. During school closures, staff, students and Peel communities are encouraged to recognize and celebrate the rich heritage, history, culture and contributions of Sikh Canadians, as well as, Sikh communities from around the world.

Peel board recognizes Administrative Professionals' Day on April 22

The board will recognize Administrative Professionals' Day on April 22 to express their appreciation to administrators for making a positive difference in the lives of students, families and the community.

Board approves motion to formally recognize 2015 to 2024 as the International Decade of Peoples of African Descent

The Board of Trustees approved the motion to recognize the United Nations Declaration that 2015 to 2024 be declared the International Decade of Peoples of African Descent, beginning September 2020 until the end of 2024.​​

Board works to dismantle systemic discrimination and anti-Black racism to improve success and well-being of students and staff

On March 13, 2020, the Ministry of Education released its report on the Peel District School Board's Review, which includes 27 directives and timelines for each. At last night's Regular Meeting of the Board, Trustees were presented with an overview of the board's response that outlines tasks, responsibilities, and progress on each of the Minister of Education's directives. As actions are taken, updates will be shared with the community and posted on the board's website.

Board recognizes, appreciates staff efforts to initiate distance learning and support student needs during COVID-19 pandemic

Trustees approved a motion to offer sincere recognition and appreciation to all Peel board staff for their committed and unprecedented effort to initiate distance learning opportunities, and for their continuing efforts to address any outstanding needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
