Special United Way presentation
The Peel board's United Way campaign will be held between Feb. 9 and March 4, 2016. It launches with United Way Giving Day on Feb. 9. United Way chair John Staba, principal at Stephen Lewis Secondary School, introduced Shelley White, president and chief executive officer at United Way Peel, who spoke to kick off the 2015-16 campaign.
The board acknowledged the hard work and effort that is put in by the Peel board’s volunteer United Way committee. This year, the board's goal is to raise $300,000. Election of SEAC Chair and Vice-Chair
The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) elected Barbara Byers as chair and Shelley Foster as vice-chair of SEAC for 2015-16.
Board approves ratification of tentative local agreement with Peel Elementary Occasional Teachers’ Local
Trustees approved the ratification of the tentative local agreement with Peel Elementary Occasional Teachers’ Local. Peel elementary occasional teachers ratified the agreement on Jan. 19, 2016.
Board approves naming of new school
Trustees approved the name of Credit Valley #2 Secondary School as Jean Augustine Secondary School, located at 500 Elbern Markell Dr. in Brampton. Read the full news release here.
Board appoints new Chief Information Officer
Trustees approved the appointment of Adam Hughes as the Peel board’s new chief information officer effective February 23, 2016. Hughes is currently the director of information technology and property with the Children’s Aid Society in Toronto.
Trustees recognized the contributions and years of service of the following staff who have/are retiring:
Nancy Gibson, office assistant, will retire Jan. 29
Daniel Hebert, teacher, will retire Jan. 31
Frank Jackson, head custodian, will retire May 11
Deborah Muszynski, teacher, will retire Feb. 29
Maria Nobre, school attendant, will retire Jan. 31
