How to prepare your child for a Field Centre visit
Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for field trips. Requirements vary depending on the season, weather and program. Please remember, though, when preparing your child that the majority of the day will be spent outdoors so proper clothing is essential.
Some considerations include:
- closed-toe shoes
- sun hat/winter hat
- gloves
- boots (winter/rain)
- dressed in layers - we recommend long pants all year as students may walk through the forest
- sunscreen
- bug net/bug spray
- refillable water bottle
- litterless lunch
Weather considerations
Field Centre programs run rain or shine. If programs need to be modified, rescheduled or cancelled due to extreme temperatures (warmer than 35 C or colder than -20 C) or thunderstorms, Field Centre staff will call the teacher from the visiting school the day before (where possible) or the morning of the trip.
