Become a Mentor
Help give a child a better chance of success
"It's very rewarding to know that spending one hour a week of your time will have such a positive impact. You know that you're really making a difference in the life of a child.”
– Janine Lewis, a current mentor
Through an innovative partnership between Peel District School Board and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel, community volunteers are matched with "at-risk" elementary students.
Mentors meet with students at school for one hour a week during the academic year, to read, draw, play sports together, and just talk. The one-on-one relationship helps students to improve their academic, physical and social skills. Participants have demonstrated a better self-image, more interest in school and increased performance.
Mentors needed: we are always looking for mentors to dedicate their time and skills to help students who can benefit from the mentorship program. You’ll be screened and trained before meeting a student. For information about becoming a mentor and our application form, call 905-459-3373 or visit www.bbbspeel.com.
