Walnut Grove promotes math success with annual Numeracy Night

Parents and students in kindergarten to grade 8 are invited to attend Walnut Grove Public School’s annual Numeracy Night on Feb 12. This year’s event will explore how mathematics taught in school and numeracy around the word connects with the upcoming Pan Am Games.

Students and their families will engage in open-ended questions and hands-on activities which cover the five strands of mathematics. Students will also embark on a journey of physical prowess as they explore how mathematics is used in the various sports of the Pan Am Games and how athletes use mathematics in their training and competition.  Meanwhile, parents will have the opportunity to hear from teachers about "Math at Home" strategies so they may continue supporting their children's academic success.

Pachi, the official mascot of the Pan Am Games, and representatives of the Pan Am Games will also be on site to welcome and interact with guests. Doors will open at 6:15, with the event taking place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Walnut Grove is located at 10 Pinestaff Road in Brampton. For more information, please contact the school at 905-796-4572.
