Every year, for the past 15 years, students and staff at Hazel McCallion Senior Public School have participated in The Terry Fox Foundation's goal to raise money for cancer research. This year, students and staff donated $11,494.81, resulting in a grand 15-year total of $243,248.65. This total has landed the school 20th on the top elementary school donations list for the foundation in all of Ontario and first amongst elementary schools in Peel.
During the two week of fundraising efforts, students encouraged regular donations, hosted a student versus staff charity basketball game and more. At the end of their fundraiser on Terry Fox Day, students and staff celebrated with a school dance to celebrate their achievement.
