TL Kennedy students receive Honourary Award of Achievement at Queens Park

April 3 is the day that these three students from TL Kennedy Secondary School will never forget. That was the day when Laetitia Chang, Elizabeth Michez and Aditi Soin were invited and officially recognized at the Legislative Assembly at Queens Park by Member of Provincial Parliament for Mississauga East – Cooksville Kaleed Rasheed, for representing Canada at the upcoming DECA International's International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Florida from April 27 to 30.

It all started when the students requested to the MPP for Canadian pins to share with fellow delegates at the competition as part of the DECA tradition to trade pins from their home countries. Once MPP Rasheed heard about the students' work in DECA, he knew he wanted to do something special to recognize their accomplishment.

Throughout the year, students at TL Kennedy's DECA club participate in a variety of competitions to showcase their leadership and communications skills. Soin also made school history by being the first grade 9 student represent her school in DECA Internationals.

"We're very proud of all our students in the DECA club. It's so exciting to see all their hard work and dedication come to fruition at these events, and watching them shine," said Dolly Mehra, teacher at TL Kennedy.

Chang, Michez and Soin will be among 180,000 students from around the globe who will be competing at DECA Internationals this month.
