In his acceptance speech, Director X mentions that in junior high, he initially wanted to pursue a career in comic books and in high school, he became interested in graphic design. The turning point was during his high school co-op placement at MuchMusic when he realized that he wanted to go into directing.

"You follow your interests and you let it take you where it's going to take you," says Director X in his acceptance speech.

As a film director, he made his directorial debut in 2014 with drama titled Across the Line, which won Best Feature at the Atlantic Film Festival 2015. His recent film, Superfly, debuted in August.

Amongst the four 2017 inductees to the Arts Walk of Fame are also Rupi Kaurand Zarqa Nawaz, graduates of Turner Fenton and Chinguacousy secondary schools, respectively.

"It's always exciting to celebrate our former students and their achievements as they continue to make a lasting impact on our school, our community and internationally," says Sherry Dalcin, principal at North Park Secondary School. "At North Park, we're always encouraging our students to dream big, believe that they're possible and find a way to make their mark on the world."
