Peel students, staff raise funds for cancer research in support of the Terry Fox Foundation

Each year, Peel District School Board schools continue Terry Fox's legacy by raising money for cancer research. Whether it is by planning a variety of fundraisers that include bake sales, car washes, or student-led activities, the dedication and generosity of our students and families to help is inspiring.

The 2018 Terry Fox School Run was held on September 27. Thousands of Peel board students, staff and families, along with millions of students across Canada, took part in the school run to work towards a world without cancer.

Last school year, Peel students and staff raised over $420,000 for the 2017 Terry Fox School Run. Hazel McCallion Senior Public School($14,160), Humberview Secondary School ($14,387) and Sunny View Middle School ($11,534) were among the Terry Fox Foundation's Top 50 Fundraisers of 2017 in Ontario list.

This year marked Hazel McCallion's fifteenth year since the school has participated in the Terry Fox Run. To date, they have raised and donated a total of $231,753, while Humberview Secondary School has raised $160,624 and Sunny View Middle School has raised $58,207.
