Peel board hosts second annual Hard of Hearing Student Social

​Over 70 Peel students attended the the Peel board's second annual Hard of Hearing Student Social held in partnership with the Canadian Hearing Society, on April 5 at the HJA Brown Education Centre. The event, hosted by deaf and hard of hearing itinerant teachers, featured a fun-filled day complete with guest speakers, community building games and icebreakers, informative booths and a discussion panel with Peel board graduates.

Guest speakers from The Canadian Hearing SocietySimeon Canada and Phonak Canada spoke with students on the different challenges, opportunities and resources available to students.

Peel graduates connected with current students to share their experiences with hearing loss in high school and in their post-secondary endeavors. Students connected over some of the challenges they faced and the strategies and techniques that helped them succeed. 

Throughout the event, students utilized Google Classroom to supplement their experience and learning.​
