Whitehorn Public School awarded $3,000 for placing first in the 2017 Plastic Bag Grab Challenge

​Whitehorn Public School is the winner of the 2017 Plastic Bag Grab challenge.

This year, 541 schools from across Canada collected 2,339,717 plastic bags for recycling and engaged their communities on the importance of reduce, reuse and recycle.  By collecting 2,272 bags, Whitehorn Public School diverted 18.2 kilograms of plastic from landfills and waterways. The plastic bags will be recycled domestically into new products, such as plastic lumber and outdoor furniture.  

Whitehorn is the 2017 Overall Social Media Prize Winner and will be awarded a $3,000 prize that can be used towards an environmental project or initiative.
