Stanley Mills Public School will be celebrating Canada 150 with their eleventh annual Canada Day parade. The parade will take place on June 23. There will be a morning assembly at 8:30 a.m. followed by students leaving for the parade at 9 a.m.
Elementary school students will show their Canadian pride through the Brampton neighbourhood. Students will depart from Stanley Mills and travel north to Chapparal Dr. along Sandalwood Parkway in Brampton. The parade will continue past Maple Grove Community Care and return back to the school via Sunny Meadow Blvd.
O’Canada will be signed by the grade three Sign Language Club. Students will be dressed in colours of the Canadian flag and a few students will be wearing the winning t-shirt design from a contest . Students will also wave their hand-made flags, banners and signs to the local neighbourhood. Grade 2 students will stop at Maple Grove Community Care during the parade to present a hand-made Canadian souvenir. A drone photograph will be taken at 10:15 a.m.
Juno award winning artist, Jack Grunsky, will be performing a special concert for students from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Jack Grunsky is a children’s music producer, singer and songwriter.
