Applewood and Stephen Lewis secondary schools to perform at Rogers Centre

On Tuesday, May 30, students from Applewood and Stephen Lewis will perform the American and Canadian national anthems at the Rogers Centre on Tuesday, May 30.

Applewood School is a secondary school for students who have developmental disabilities. These students, many of whom are nonverbal, will sign the American and Canadian national anthems using a dramatized form of American Sign Language (ASL).

Victor Poncelet and Ugo Lam from Applewood School will be singing both anthems.

Thirty Applewood students will be accompanied by twenty-five staff, as well as twenty-five students from Stephen Lewis Secondary School with four staff. During the signing of the anthems, students will create a formation that ends with a large Canadian flag.

This performance will be for the opening to the Toronto Blue Jays hosting the Cincinnati Reds.
