Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones may pose safety risk in schools, work sites

As you may be aware, Samsung has recently recalled every Galaxy Note 7 smartphone that has been sold worldwide. Since the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 can overheat and catch fire, Samsung has asked consumers to power down their devices and contact their carrier/retail outlet to return the device as it may pose a safety risk.

As a safety precaution, we ask that students, staff and visitors not bring Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones into Peel District School Board schools and offices. The safety of our school communities is a priority for us, so we ask for your cooperation and understanding.

If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or given away in Canada. As a recalled product, it is mandatory that you return the device. For information about the recall, please contact Samsung at 1-855-747-6520.
