Peel board declares Oct. 21 United Way Giving Day

Peel schools ‘Inspire Possibility!’

The Peel District School Board has declared Oct. 21 United Way Giving Day in support of the United Way of Peel Region. The board is encouraging staff, students and parents to donate a loonie or toonie on Oct. 21. Funds raised will support the United Way of Peel Region and the network of social service agencies it supports in the community.

"While we strive to inspire success, confidence and hope each and every day, we know that there are many needs in our community that we can't always address," says Tony Pontes, director of education. "That's why we've launched this board-wide giving day in support of United Way of Peel. We hope it will inspire possibility not only at our schools, but in the community at large, helping those who need it most."

The Peel board has provided flyers, posters and fundraising ideas to support schools with the campaign. They are also encouraging schools to use social media to share their fundraising efforts with the hashtag #InspirePossibility.

The Peel board serves more than 154,000 students in kindergarten to grade 12. Operating 244 schools in the municipalities of Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga, the Peel board is the largest employer in Peel. For more information, visit www.peelschools.org.
