Peel board students shine in the spotlight at the 68th Sears Ontario Drama Festival

Students from five Peel District School Board secondary schools will perform at the Central Regional Showcase of the 68th Sears Ontario Drama Festival, which takes place at the Meadowvale Theatre from April 3 to 5. The event features a total of nine dramatic productions from schools in the Dufferin, Peel and York regions.

 “The festival promotes drama and the arts, builds community and gives students opportunities to build their leadership and collaborative problem solving skills,” notes Ian Armstrong, teacher at West Credit Secondary School and the Sears Central Region festival coordinator. “Students from Applewood Heights, Brampton Centennial, Cawthra Park, Mayfield and The Woodlands secondary schools have worked very hard to prepare for the showcase and we invite the Peel community to come out to show their support.”

Cawthra Park and Mayfield will perform on April 3, presenting Angels of Our Own and Waldeinsamkeit, respectively. Applewood Heights will perform A Letter for Darius on April 4. Brampton Centennial will present ‘dentity Crisis. The Woodlands will present Clay Heats on April 5.

The shows begin at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are $16 for adults, $12 for students and $10 for the groups of 10 secondary school students. Meadowvale Theatre is located at 6315 Montevideo Road in Mississauga.
