The Peel District School Board has appointed Jaspal Gill as the new associate director of operational support services. He replaces Carla Kisko, who left the position in September 2013. Gill has been acting associate director of operational support services since September. His appointment is effective Dec. 18, 2013.
“We were impressed by all of the candidates we considered for this position,” says Janet McDougald, chair of the board. “Jaspal has the skills and experience this executive administration role requires. He has been an active and collaborative member of the senior management team and we are pleased he will continue on in a leadership capacity in Peel.”
Gill began his career in Peel in 1999 as manager of maintenance services. Since joining the board, he has served in a variety of leadership roles. As controller of facilities and environmental support services for the past nine years, Gill has consistently demonstrated his extensive understanding of and appreciation for the impact of operational services on student achievement and well-being.
In addition to the day-to-day management of various departments, Gill has provided strong leadership and direction to facilitate some key board milestones, including ISO 9001 certification for Maintenance Services resulting in increased efficiency and commitment to quality service. As associate director of operational support services, Gill will report to the director of education and serve as chief financial officer for the board. He will assume responsibility for the board's budget of $1.55 billion. Reporting directly to this position are the areas of Corporate Support Services, Facilities and Environmental Support Services, Finance Support Services, Learning Technology Support Services and Planning and Accommodation Support Services.
