Four Peel District School Board schools will celebrate milestone anniversaries this month. Celebrations will feature community events, student performances and reunions of former students and staff.
"Anniversaries are a great way to celebrate the rich history of our schools," says Janet McDougald, Peel board chair. "Peel schools have a long-standing tradition of excellence—these events allow schools to showcase the culmination of years of effort and achievements by students, staff and the community."
Balmoral Drive Sr. Public School will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Oct. 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The evening will include classroom visits, student artwork and performances, community partner booths and a raffle draw. Balmoral is located at 233 Balmoral Dr. in Brampton.
Goldcrest Public School will commemorate its 40th anniversary on Oct. 17 with a community barbeque from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a special presentation. Goldcrest is located at 24 Goldcrest Rd. in Brampton.
Plum Tree Park Public School’s 25th anniversary on Oct. 24 includes a community barbecue and a classroom open house. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Plum Tree Park is located at 6855 Tenth Line W. in Mississauga.
Macville Public School will celebrate 50 years on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The school has invited staff and students—past and present—as well as community members to drop by for a mid-day barbeque, a 2013 time capsule, classroom open houses and a student concert. Souvenirs and memorabilia will also be available for sale. Macville is located at 7280 King St. in Caledon.
