Free workshop helps parents boost their child’s success

Congress of Black Women of Canada (Brampton Chapter)

On Saturday, September 29, 2012, The Congress of Black Women of Canada (Brampton Chapter) will host a free parent workshop at Fletchers Meadow Secondary School 10750 Chinguacousy Road, Brampton Ontario, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.

The workshop is geared to parents with children in elementary and high school. The sessions are designed to be fun and interactive. Parents will choose from a menu of topics and will sign up to be part of a small group discussion based on their identified interests.

Workshop topics include:
1. Parent involvement/engagement
2. Developing self-esteem and confidence in children
3. Homework challenges
4. Bullying/online and how to foster compassion in children
5. Parents as advocates (suspensions, expulsions)
6. Internet Safety

Refreshments, lunch and workshop materials are included in the free registration. Space is limited, so parents should register early. Registration closes Sept. 19.
