In November a fifth school—Alton P.S.— will open to replace the former Alton P.S. The new school will be located at 19681 Main St., Caledon, Ont. It will be home to 250 students from kindergarten to grade 6.
“We will be working hard to create a strong, school community, where staff, students and parents work collaboratively to establish an outstanding learning environment for years to come,” says Darren Van Hooydonk, principal of Eldorado P.S. “Staff are excited to share the focus of our school with students during opening assemblies on Sept. 5.”
“We are excited to begin our journey at Lorenville P.S. and building it together with the staff, students and families in the community,” says Michelle Anderson, principal of Lorenville P.S. “Lorenville is projected to open with 280 students in the first year and will quickly grow to 800 students in 2015.”
“From the early grades, students will be encouraged to use 21st century technology and skills in the classroom, while investigating community and global projects,” says Jay Sugunan, principal of Sir Isaac Brock P.S. “We have already issued a challenge to students to be the first Sir Isaac Brock student to develop an app for our devices.”
“It is an incredible experience to be part of building an entire community together to develop a common vision, and create a positive, safe and nurturing environment for our staff and students,” says Pamela Lone, principal of Walnut Grove P.S. “Our staff have been working tremendously hard, and are really looking forward to welcoming all families to our new school community.”
The Peel board serves more than 153,000 students in kindergarten to grade 12. Operating 242 schools in the municipalities of Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga, the Peel board is the largest employer in the Peel Region.
