Bramalea Secondary School will commemorate the official launch of the Truck and Coach program and facility with a celebration at the school on May 16. The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, as well as greetings from government, education and industry representatives.
“Our Truck and Coach program is unique because of our brand new state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for this program,” says Peter Gibson, vice-principal of Bramalea. “The facility alone sets us apart from any Truck and Coach program in Ontario, and possibly Canada.”
The Truck and Coach program offered at Bramalea complements the school’s existing Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program in transportation. The program prepares students for entry into post-secondary programs, or a career in the transportation industry upon graduation. Students in the program will complete all requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, while taking courses focused on various aspects of the transportation industry. The program is offered in partnership with Centennial College and other advanced training institutions.
The Truck and Coach program is one of the many Regional programs offered at various locations by the Peel District School Board. For more information about the programs, including locations and descriptions, visit www.peelschools.org/parents/programs.
The event begins at 3:30 p.m. and will include greetings from Director of Education Tony Pontes, Trustee Beryl Ford, Minister of Labour Lisa Raitt and MP Bal Gosal. Bramalea is located at 510 Balmoral Dr. in Brampton.
