Upcoming deadline to switch learning models and update for secondary IB and Regional Learning Choice Programs

Dear Peel District School Board families,

As we shared with you last week, families currently have the opportunity to request a switch in learning models from online to in-person learning, or vice-versa. The deadline to submit your request to your school is Oct. 14, 2020 at 12 p.m. These changes will take effect on Nov. 18, 2020.

If your child will be remaining in the same learning model, no action is required. If you would like to switch learning models, please email or call your school with their student name, student number (this can be found on your child's last report card) and their learning model choice.

After the Oct. 14 deadline has passed, students will remain in their chosen learning model until the next key entry date. We anticipate another opportunity to switch learning models in January 2021.

Due to the considerable impact switching learning models has on staffing, physical distancing and students' continuous learning, transitions between learning models can only take place at key entry dates. Families are strongly encouraged to avoid switching between learning models multiple times throughout the school year.

Secondary RLCPs, IB and AP will be available online starting Nov. 18

We are happy to share that beginning Quadmester 2 (Nov. 18), secondary students who were previously enrolled in Regional Learning Choice Programs, International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement will be able to continue their program in the online learning model, if they choose to do so. Depending on the program, some aspects may need to be adjusted to work in a virtual environment. We wanted to make sure you had this information in case it impacts your learning model choice.

If you have any questions, please visit our website or contact your child's school directly.  Thank you again for your continued support.
