For many years, the Peel District School Board has provided Community Use of Schools program permits at a reduced rate by subsidizing operational and labour costs. Understanding the financial pressures families, community members and agencies are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Peel board will maintain 2019-20 permit rates for the 2020-21 school year.
"After hearing from members of the public, permit holders and Trustees, we have made a decision to maintain this year's permit rates for the upcoming school year. As many families and community groups are experiencing uncertainty, it is not an appropriate time to increase permit fees," says Director of Education Peter Joshua. "We know that schools are hubs of the community and that the programming offered by those who use our facilities benefit many of the students and families we serve. We are pleased to be able to extend this year's permit fees into next year, and look forward to continuing to be able to offer places for community to come together to volunteer, build skills, access community programs, become physically active, and build strong and healthy communities."
