From May 4 to 10, 2020, the Peel District School Board will recognize Mental Health Week and highlight areas of mental well-being, while raising awareness of the stigma surrounding mental health issues. The focus throughout the week will be on fostering mental well-being in staff, students and families during these challenging times, and to continuing to help each other to be well in Peel.
Last month, the board shared a list of community and mental health resources to help support students, staff and families during the government-mandated COVID-19 school closures. In recognition of Mental Health Week in May, the board has created additional resources, available as toolkits, to help the Peel community stay mentally healthy at pdsb.me/MHWeek.
Throughout the week, staff, students and families are encouraged to participate and join the conversation in promoting five daily activities for mental wellness – Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Give Back and Take Notice. We invite you to share your activities and follow along on social media using the hashtag #WELLinPEEL.
As we reflect and put the focus on mental health next week, let's remember that we need to take care of ourselves and each other now more than ever. Mental Health affects us all. Together, let's support each other to be #WELLinPEEL.
