Participation component of applications for Peel board elementary Regional Learning Choices Programs cancelled

The Peel District School Board has cancelled the participation component of applications for each of its elementary Regional Learning Choices Programs (RLCP) for the 2020-21 school year. There are no changes to the application timelines. Applications will open on Jan. 27, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. and close on Feb. 10, 2020, at 3 p.m. The application link will be made available on the elementary RLCP page on the board's website on Jan. 27.

Term Two Report Cards in grade 4 and grade 5 Progress Reports will be used to review students' elementary RLCP applications. For grade 6 students who live south of the 401 and are applying to the Arts program at Queen Elizabeth Sr. Public School, Term Two grade 5 Report Cards and grade 6 Progress Reports will be reviewed.

If the student meets the application criteria, their application will be entered into the random selection process for each program. In the random selection process, a computer will randomly assign a number to each applicant who has successfully met the application criteria for each program and spaces for the programs will be offered. Please note that the random selection process is completed centrally at the board and not at the school level. The first round offers will be sent on Apr. 9, 2020, after 3 p.m. and second round offers on Apr. 17, 2020, after 3 p.m.

Once students have been offered all available spaces in a specific elementary RLCP, the remaining students who have met the criteria will be placed on the school's waitlist. Each school has its own waitlist that starts on Apr. 27, 2020.

Please note that each program will have its own random selection process. If you have applied for multiple programs, your Report Cards will be reviewed for each program and if they meet the application criteria for each program, your application will be submitted in the random selection process for each program.

Interested students and families are encouraged to visit www.peelschools.org/regionalprograms  to learn about each of the six elementary regional programs and for more details on the application process.
