Peel board highlights public education with week-long celebrations, recognition of over 1,000 award recipients

The Peel District School Board will host hundreds of celebrations, activities and events across its 257 schools and worksites to celebrate Education Week from April 23 to 27. On April 30, the Peel board will host Showcase of Excellence, an evening to honour Award of Excellence recipients for their outstanding contributions to public education. The theme for this year's Education Week is We Inspire.

"There are many reasons to honour the work that takes place in our schools and worksites every day. Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate public education and the wonderful accomplishments of our students, staff and members of the community," says Peter Joshua, director of education. "Award of Excellence recipients are leaders in their roles and have truly gone above and beyond to make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. Their stories remind us of the power each of us has, each and every day, in every role, to inspire success, confidence and hope in each student."

During Showcase of Excellence, community members, staff, students and volunteers will be honoured for their dedication. The following 33 recipients will be presented Awards of Excellence at the event:
