1,200 Peel board parents become students for day at 17th annual parent conference, co-presented by Peel Elementary Teachers' Local

­­Free conference provides practical ways parents can help boost student success

More than 1,200 Peel District School Board parents from schools in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga will become students for a day at the 17th annual parent conference on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Mississauga Secondary School.

Dwayne Matthews​, a life and education strategist, will keynote Empowering Modern Learners: 2018 Parent Conference to help parents think modern learning, disruptive technology, and the evolution of work. Participants will also choose from more than 50 workshops designed to provide parents with tips and resources to help their children succeed in school.

"In many ways, we're educating students for a world that we've not yet imagined. Together, we'll create a learning environment where modern learners are inspired to learn, collaborate, create and connect with the world," says Peter Joshua, director of education. "The conference will provide resources in all subject areas—with an Empowering Modern Learners lens. Whether children are starting kindergarten, need support developing study skills in middle school or are transitioning into high school, the conference supports parents' learning needs."
