The Peel District School Board will host its Empowering Modern Learners: 2018 Parent Conference, co-presented by the Peel Elementary Teachers' Local, on Saturday, March 24 at Mississauga Secondary School. This free learning event is for parents of Peel board elementary and secondary students.
During the conference's keynote presentation, Dwayne Matthews, an education strategist, will share knowledge on modern learning, disruptive technology and the evolution of work. Dwayne will present Learning in the 21st century: Why it's different, why it matters and how to help children thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world. In this keynote, Dwayne will help parents think about the drivers behind the changes and how this global transition will create massive never-before-seen opportunities for parents and children that are prepared to go out to meet this new world head on.
Peel board parents interested in registering for the conference should visit www.peelschools.org/parents/conference. The site provides a complete list of workshops and descriptions, and an online registration form. The registration deadline is March 5.
The annual parent conference would not be free and/or possible without the support of organizations, such as:Mississauga Secondary School is located at 550 Courtney Park Dr. W. in Mississauga. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. Opening remarks and the keynote presentation start at 8:30 a.m. Workshops run from 10 to 11 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The conference ends at 2:30 p.m.
