Peel filmmaking student to debut their work on the big screen at The Rose Theatre
On May 23, the Peel District School Board will stage its sixth annual Peel Student Film Festival at The Rose Theatre from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with over 800 secondary students attending the event. There will be over 25 secondary school participating and showcasing their talented cinematography.
“The Peel Student Film Festival offers an empowering starting point for aspiring filmmakers. It provides them with the opportunity to showcase their creativity on a big screen surrounded by their peers and community,” says Gabrielle Fraschetti, Director of Peel Student Film Festival. "The festival is a celebration of youth culture, highlighted by the richness and diversity of a new generation of filmmakers."
There are eight categories students will compete for: Animation, Commercial, Experimental, Music Video, Movie Trailer, News Report/Documentary, Public Service Announcement, Special Effects and Short Film.
Post-Secondary schools offering specialized programs in Animation, Film and Media will have booths set up at The Rose Theatre during the festival to connect with students about future opportunities in the arts.
The Peel Student Film Festival encourages and acknowledges the work of young filmmakers in Peel and works to celebrate their talent by providing them with a platform to share captivating stories.
