Scott Moreash appointed new associate director of instructional support services

The Peel District School Board has appointed Scott Moreash as the new associate director of instructional support services. He replaces Pam Tomasevic, who retires at the end of December. The appointment is effective January 1, 2013.

"Scott is a consensus-builder with an unwavering focus on student success,” says Janet McDougald, chair of the board. “We are impressed  with his dedication to Peel students and their families, and his ability to develop and maintain strong and positive working relationships. His deep understanding of teaching and learning is a key asset to our system."

Moreash’s long-standing contributions to the Peel board began in 1984 when he joined the board as a teacher at Mayfield Secondary School. He has held a variety of roles including principal at North Peel Secondary School (now Judith Nyman Secondary School) and Heart Lake Secondary School before becoming a school support officer in 2003.  He became a superintendent of education in 2005 and worked at the North Field Office for five years.  In 2010, Scott assumed the role of superintendent of leadership development and school support services and in August of 2011, was appointed to the new role of coordinating superintendent.
Notes McDougald, “Scott’s variety of leadership experiences, his work as coordinating superintendent and his exemplary work ethic make him well-suited for the role of associate director.”

“It’s an honour for me to be appointed to this role,” says Moreash. “I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with my colleagues throughout the system to inspire success, confidence and hope in each student.”

Tomasevic retires on December 31, 2012. She has served as associate director of instructional support services since May 2010. Says McDougald, "Pam has done an exemplary job of serving the students of Peel. She has given over 28 years of service to the Peel board, and far more to public education. We wish her the very best in her retirement."

The Peel board serves more than 150,000 students in kindergarten to grade 12. Operating more than 230 schools in the municipalities of Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga, the Peel board is the largest employer in Peel. For more information, visit the board's website at
