Parents can attend a free conference to learn more about supporting unique children
Parents can now register for the Unique Symposium, a free parent conference focusing on special education on April 18 at West Credit Secondary School. The conference aims to educate parents about the importance of special education and how to approach educating unique children.
The motto for the conference is: All children are unique but some need more resources than others. Finding the information and assistance for unique children is why we want parents and care givers to participate. We want you to know you are not alone and that we are all part of your journey.
The event will feature a keynote address by Louise Sirisko, superintendent of special education, followed by breakout sessions on special education topics including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Parents can register using the attached registration form
and send it to their school to be forwarded to Trelawney Public School no later than April 2
. Limited child-minding will be provided by Recreational Respite Inc. at a cost of $5.00 per child (ages 5-12) to be paid at the door. Please indicate on the registration form if this service is needed.
The event will take place on April 18 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at West Credit Secondary School at 6325 Montevideo Rd., Mississauga.
