A Great Place to Work and Learn
Working in public education is challenging and rewarding. In the Peel District School Board, we believe that every one of our staff share the opportunity to help children learn, grow and succeed. The moment a child reads his first word…when a student solves a math problem on her own…the delight of students and staff as they open a new school…the joy when a child says, "Thank you for making a difference." Every day in the Peel board, we have thousands of moments like these—thousands of smiles to share. |

Criminal Record Check
For the safety of students, successful candidates will be required to submit a satisfactory criminal record check prior to the commencement of any employment duties. Recent changes made by the RCMP have resulted in significant processing delays for some candidates. You may wish to start the process to obtain your criminal record check as soon as possible.
Commitment to Equity
The Peel District School Board is committed to equity in employment. We are committed to equitable hiring practices that allow us to hire qualified staff who reflect the full diversity of the Region of Peel. We will make any reasonable accommodation, based on any of the human rights protected grounds, to support candidates to participate in the hiring process.
When contacted, candidates will be provided with an overview of the various elements of the selection process, such as tests and skill demonstrations. We will provide employment accommodation (i.e. an accessible location, rescheduling of interviews that fall on holy days) if we are advised of an applicant's needs in advance of any part of the selection process.
Focused recruitment of Black and Indigenous educators
At the Regular Meeting of the Board on March 25, 2019, Peel board trustees approved a motion to embark on a focused recruitment initiative to hire Black and Indigenous educators to further support the work of We Rise Together - the action plan to identify, understand, minimize and eliminate the marginalization experienced by Black students, and the Indigenous Education Action Plan - the action plan to identify, understand, minimize and eliminate the marginalization experienced by Indigenous students.
The board hosted Black and Indigenous recruitment information sessions for occasional teaching and teaching assistant positions on Sept. 25 and Sept. 28, 2019. The initiative is in its early stages and will evolve over time. Early actions include promotion of the initiative, community outreach, information sessions and an internal consultation that will help inform next steps in this work.
