Adult Education
A variety of adult programs are available during the day, at night and on the weekend, so you can continue learning at a time that’s best for you.
English as a Second Language
The Peel District School Board offers English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, from beginner to advanced levels, for newcomers to Canada whose first language is not English. The goal is to strengthen listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
Day and night classes are offered in 10-week sessions. Weekend classes are intensive eight-week sessions. For more information, contact 905-270-6000, ext. 400 in Mississauga or 905-791-6700, ext. 2 in Brampton.
Individuals registering for ESL courses must show documentation indicating their status in Canada. Click here to see complete requirements.
Literacy and Basic Skills
The Peel District School Board also offers a Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) program. In contrast to those who study English as a second language, the students who attend LBS have English as their first language but need help to improve their reading and writing skills. For more information about this program, visit LBS or contact 905-791-6700, press 1, then ext. 6401.
Adult Credit Program
If you are over the age of 18 and want to complete your high school diploma, we can help you select the courses you need and create a schedule that fits your available time. Please review the requirements listed for each program to find out how to enroll.
Both day and night courses are offered, as well as the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through
co-op education programs.
Your experience counts. The mature Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) program allows adults to earn a number of credits towards graduation, by building on previous experience and learning. For more information call 905-270-6000, ext. 420.
