Peel board recognizes Teacher Recognition Day in Peel on Oct. 5, 2018
The board recognized Oct. 5, 2018, as Teacher Recognition Day in Peel schools. This day is recognized globally on Oct. 5 every year as United Nations World Teachers' Day. Schools will participate in various activities to acknowledge the contributions teachers make in the lives of children, families and community members.

Trustees recognize Oct. 10 as Principals and Vice-Principals' Day
On Oct. 10, Peel schools and worksites will recognize principals and vice-principals for their essential role in making a positive difference in the lives of students, their families and the community.

Board asks staff, students and parents to say "thank you" to bus drivers
The board recognized Oct. 17, 2018, as Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Peel schools, a day for staff, parents and students to participate in a variety of activities to express their appreciation for school bus drivers.

Updates made to Policy 14 – Student Assessment, Evaluation, and Reporting in Peel Elementary and Secondary Schools
Trustees approved updates to Policy 14, which will be made available at http://peelschools.org/trustees/boardpolicies. The revised policy ensures that it complies with current practice and Ministry of Education requirements.

Trustees approve updates to Policy 56 – Occupational Health and Safety
Minor housekeeping changes have been made to the policy, updating the reference to the former Report Card for Student Success to the Plan for Student Success. The updated policy will be made available at http://peelschools.org/trustees/boardpolicies.

Trustees approve changes to Policy 52 – Smoking
Changes to the board's Policy 52 – Smoking were approved to reflect changes to current legislation in workplace health and safety. The updated policy will be made available at http://peelschools.org/trustees/boardpolicies​.

The following elementary principal assignment will be effective September 25, 2018:
Mirella Aglio from Acting School Support Officer – Leadership in Leadership Development and School Support Services to School Support Officer – Leadership in Leadership Development and School Support Services

The following elementary principal appointments will be effective October 9, 2018:
Valerie Cunningham from vice-principal at Great Lakes Public School to principal at Ingleborough Public School
Jill Pattison from vice-principal at Cherrytree Public School to principal at Maple Wood Public School

The following elementary principal assignments will be effective October 9, 2018:
Stuart van Oostveen from principal at Shelter Bay Public School to principal at Dolphin Senior Public School
Neil Garraway from principal at Maple Wood Public School to principal at Shelter Bay Public School

The following elementary vice-principal appointment will be effective September 25, 2018:
Asha Pippo from acting vice-principal at Cooksville Creek Public School to vice-principal at Cooksville Creek Public School

The following elementary vice-principal assignment will be effective October 9, 2018:
Farah Slimati from .5 vice-principal at Fernforest Public School and .5 vice-principal at Great Lakes Public School to vice-principal at Great Lakes Public School
