BRIEFING - HIGHLIGHTS OF THE APRIL 10, 2018 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Delegations

Sandy Dookran delegated the board regarding French Immersion flexible boundary.

Special Presentation

Principal Lea-Anne Greene-Smith and Principal Ken Diana presented about the 2017-18 United Way Campaign. The campaign raised a total of $225,861.21. Fernforest Public School, Eagle Plains Public School, Red Willow Public School, Rick Hansen Secondary School and Sandalwood Heights Secondary School were presented United Way Special Recognition Awards.

Peel board recognizes Administrative Professionals' Day on April 25

The board will recognize April 25, 2018, as Administrative Professionals' Day. Schools will participate in a variety of activities to express their appreciation for administrative staff and acknowledge their contributions.

Trustees approve tender for the construction of TL Kennedy Secondary School renovation

The board approved that the tender in the amount of $2,762,850 including HST for the construction of TL Kennedy Secondary School renovation, be awarded to Quad Pro Construction Inc.

Trustees approve enrolment cap for Alloa Public School and the re-direction of students exceeding the cap

The board approved an enrolment cap of 34 classes for Alloa Public School and the re-direction of students exceeding capacity. Students residing north of Mayfield Road would be re-directed to Belfountain Public School for Kindergarten to Grade 6 and Caledon Central Public School for Grades 7 and 8. Students residing south of Mayfield Road would be re-directed to Aylesbury Public School for Kindergarten to Grade 8. 

Trustees approve enrolment cap for Chris Hadfield Public School and the re-direction of students exceeding the cap

The board approved an enrolment cap of 28 classes at Chris Hadfield Public School and the re-direction of students exceeding the capacity to Elm Drive Public School for Kindergarten to Grade 5.

Trustees approve motion to have dedicated and back-up bus drivers for vocational and special educations students

The board approved a motion requiring all buses transporting vocational and special education students to have dedicated and back-up bus drivers.

Board approves Terms of Reference for the Committee of the Whole Board

Trustees approved the Terms of Reference for the Committee of the Whole Board. As part of the board's regular review of its by-laws, all committees of the board review and make any necessary changes to the Terms of Reference.
