Students from Port Credit Secondary School Chamber Strings music group wins two Gold First Place standings at the 37th Guelph Kiwanis Music Festival on April 13.
Port Credit Chamber Strings Concerto Ensemble is comprised of 27 students from grades 9 to 12. The ensemble performed in the Senior String Ensemble Category and grade 12 student, Ashley Jeon, performed as a soloist in the Concerto Category. Students placed first in both categories.
The ensemble regularly participates in the Guelph Kiwanis Music Festival and has been invited to participate at the Ontario Provincial Finals for the past several years. They received MusicFest Canada invitations for the past eight years and have received Gold and Silver awards for their performances. In the past three years, students have been Provincial Finalists at the Ontario Music Festivals Association's competition. Earlier this year, Port Credit Chamber Strings Concerto Ensemble received two Platinum awards and the Kiwanis Club of Kingway Humber Scholarship at the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto.
The Kiwanis Music Festival of Guelph "provides young, aspiring musicians with annual performance opportunities," from across Canada.
