The third annual "iDebate there iExist" debate championship was held at Earnscliffe Senior Public School on April 18, 2018. The school welcomed eight Peel schools: Tomken, Homelands, Fallingbrook, Fletcher's Creek, Caledon East, Centennial, McCrimmon and William G. Davis public schools.
Tomken Public school were this year's tournament champions, followed by Fletcher's Creek, Earnscliffe Senior and East Caledon respectively.
"Debate represents the ideals of reasoned argument, tolerance for divergent points of view and rigorous self-examination," says Costel Gagu, tournament organizer and teacher at Earnscliffe Senior.
The tournament has benefitted from increasing popularity and offers the unique opportunity for students of all grades to practice leadership skills and an opportunity to delve into in one of the tools essential in civil discourse.
