More than 25 students forming Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School's Model UN delegates attended King's Christian Collegiate Model UN Conference on Feb. 24.
At the conference, student leaders put their critical thinking and diplomacy skills to the test by addressing challenging issues facing the UN Security Council, UNHCR and the African Union. Topics ranged from de-escalating tensions with North Korea, the Rohingya refugee crisis to South Sudan's fight to gain independence.
Guest speakers include Emmanuel Jal, musician and former child soldier in Sudan and representative from World Vision who was present in the Rohingya refugee camps.
Harold M. Brathwaite students received awards in the following categories:
- Best Delegate
- Outstanding Delegate
- Honourable Mention
- Best Position Paper
