Three Peel schools are Ontario Mathematics Olympiad regional winners

Schools across the province participated in the Ontario Mathematics Olympiad (OMO) Regional Trails qualification round for the OMO Provincials on February 10 at Sheridan College in Oakville. Grade 7 and 8 students put their math knowledge and skills to the test to solve a variety of curriculum-based math questions as individuals, pairs and teams. Three Peel schools claimed the top three spots and will compete in the provincial competition in June.​

First place: William G. Davis Sr. Public School

Second place: Mount Royal Public School

Third place: Homelands Senior Public School

The Ontario Mathematics Olympiad (OMO) is a mathematics competition run by The Ontario Association for Mathematics Education since 1995. The competition challenges grade seven and eight students to utilize their mathematical concepts and ability to solve problems and communicate their knowledge in various applied situations.
