Students receive high honour from OSSTF Student Achievement Awards

​High school students across Ontario, including the Peel District School Board, submitted their entries to the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation's (OSSTF) Student's Achievement Awards in honour of Marion Drysdale. An astounding eight out of 14 students who represented the OSSTF District 19-Peel are award recipients at the regional and provincial awards competition.

Christina Mohan, grade 11 student from Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School, is the recipient of both the Regional and Provincial Awards for her French poem titled, Sauvè par ton sourire. Alessandra Di Lello, grade 12 student from Louise Arbour Secondary School, is named Regional Award Winner for her poem titled, Shh, it's a secret.

The Student Achievement Awards is a writing and creative arts competition for secondary schools in Ontario. This year, the theme is: What's your super power? The competition is held at the school, district, regional and provincial levels. Nine winners are chosen and are awarded $1,000 each, and invited to the OSSTF's Annual General Meeting in March to feature their work. ​

The OSSTF District 19-Peel advocates for its members, providing protection and support to secondary public teachers in Peel Region and represents almost 60,000 educational workers throughout Ontario.
