Jean Augustine Secondary School officially opens with a day of student-led activities and tours

Jean Augustine Secondary School, which opened in September 2016, officially opened on May 25 with a day filled with student-led activities, tours and special ceremonies.  The school is named after Canadian social justice advocate and politician Jean Augustine . Jean Augustine was in attendance and offered words of inspiration throughout the day. 

Community members and parents were happy to attend the open house and experienced the school spirit at Jean Augustine. Students provided tours of the art studio, computer science lab, gym, dance and music studio, science lab and demonstrated 3-D printing technology.  Hospitality students prepared delicious cuisine and shared their talents with guests.

Brampton West MP Kamal Khera, Lakeshore-West MP James Maloney and Brampton West MPP Vic Dhillon attended the special ceremony and offered congratulatory remarks for the official school opening. Jean Augustine ​addressed the audience and spoke words of inspiration, hope and wisdom. 

The special ceremony ended with a bhangra performance by students at Jean Augustine.

Jean Augustine Secondary School is located at 500 Elbern Markell Dr. in Brampton.
