The Peel District School Board is seeking input from staff, parents, students and community members to help shape its 2019-20 school year budget. Input will be collected through a School Council consultation process, delegations and an online survey.
"Guided by our mission to inspire success, confidence and hope in each student, the Peel board works to support the needs of all learners in an efficient and sustainable manner," says Stan Cameron, chair of the board. "The board ensures fiscal responsibility through the effective use of resources to enhance student achievement."
To provide input, individuals may:
Notes Cameron, "Approximately 95 per cent of the Peel board's revenue is provided directly from the Ministry of Education through the Grants for Student Needs (GSN) funding that is based on enrolment and the specific needs of students in each school board. The majority of school board funding must be used for the purpose that it was granted—e.g. facilities operating costs and salaries. We do want to hear from our communities on the other areas of the budget where input can be sought."
- delegate the board at Regular Meetings of the Board on March 25, April 9, April 23 or May 14, 2019. To present to trustees at these meetings, individuals must contact the Director's Office at 905-890-1010 (or 1-800-668-1146) ext. 2010, and complete the board's Request to Delegate Registration Form.
- provide input through their school's School Council if they are a Peel board parent/guardian. Parents/guardians should contact their School Council chair to find out when budget consultation will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.
- complete a brief, online survey at www.peelschools.org/BUDGET by March 31, 2019.
