Staff, students refurbish decommissioned devices, donate them to Peel families
Over the past year, the Peel District School Board has donated over 150 decommissioned laptops and tablets to Peel families who would otherwise find it challenging to obtain the devices on their own. Staff in the board's Learning Technology Support Services department, Co-operative Education students from Peel high schools and community members have generously donated their time to refurbish the devices and make them ready to donate to families.
Once refurbished, the devices are delivered to Peel board students who school social workers have identified would benefit from the devices the most. The students receive laptops, AC adapters, some with mice and 95 per cent with laptop bags. These are delivered free of charge to Peel board students.
