Five Peel District School Board schools will celebrate 25th and 50th milestone anniversaries this spring. Celebrations will feature community events, student performances and reunions of former students and staff.
Clark Boulevard Public School and John Fraser Secondary School will celebrate their 50th and 25th anniversaries, respectively on May 7. Clark Boulevard’s celebrations will include an official ceremony, community barbecue, carnival games and school tours. John Fraser’s anniversary will include an open house for past and present staff, students and families from 1 to 4 p.m. An evening social will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. and will feature a reception and performance by the Sherway Drive Jazz Band. Champlain Trail Public School will celebrate 25 years on May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. The evening will include a photo display of former staff and students, a selfie station, cake-cutting and food trucks. Items from a time capsule created in 1991 will also be on display.
On June 2, Dunrankin Drive Public School will commemorate its 50th anniversary with a reception from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. and special presentations from 10 to 11 a.m. The event will also include showcases and a family barbecue.
Sir Winston Churchill Public School’s 50th anniversary will include classroom displays, a family picnic, a time capsule and a performance by the school’s choir on June 16. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the official ceremony at 6 p.m.
