Plan your exit from high school : If you plan an apprenticeship after high school :

• Have you met with your guidance counsellor to discuss your pathway plan?
• Have you completed a self-assessment of your skills, interests, abilities and preferred learning style?
• Have you applied for the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program?
• Do you know which skilled trade you would like to apprentice in?
• Do you have a resume, cover letter, references and additional certification portfolio?
• Do you have a copy of your Ontario Student Transcript and Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Certificate or Certificate of Accomplishment?
• Do you have an employer willing to sponsor you as an apprentice?
• Do you know who your local training consultant for the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities is?
• Have you received trade specific health and safety training for the skilled trade you are pursuing?
• Are you registered as an apprentice?
• Do you know where the in-school component of your apprenticeship training is delivered?
• Have you heard of the Loans for Tools program?
• Are you registered with Job Connect ?
